Managing Director & Head of the Americas Investor Development Group, Actis Advisers

Maureen O’Toole is head of the Americas Investor Development Group for Actis.  She and her team work with investors in Actis funds to keep them fully appraised of the progress and performance of their investments. Importantly, they work with potential investors about the opportunities that exist in emerging market investing, and the preconceptions that often accompany them.

Maureen joined Actis from Morgan Stanley where she was a Managing Director and held a number of roles in the alternative investments division, ranging from client engagement, to sales team management and business management. She worked at K2 Advisors immediately prior to Morgan Stanley. Prior to that, Maureen was a Managing Director with Citigroup Alternative Investments, heading a global team of 35 investor development professionals who worked with clients across the full spectrum of alternative investments: hedge funds, private equity and private real estate funds.

Maureen started her career as a research analyst at Drexel Burnham Lambert, working with institutional clients on identifying their balance sheet risk and then constructing risk mitigating hedging strategies. Hedging strategies evolved to also suggest opportunistic trading ideas from time to time.

Maureen received her undergraduate degree in Speech Pathology and Audiology, with a second emphasis in Economics at California State University at Chico. She obtained her Masters in Finance at Northwestern University in Chicago.  Additionally, Maureen holds a Chartered Alternative Investment Analyst designation.
