H.E. Abdulla Bin Touq Al Marri was appointed Minister of Economy of the United Arab Emirates (UAE) under the new government structure approved in July 2020.

He is chairman of the General Civil Aviation Authority, UAE International Investors Council, and CSR UAE Fund’s Board of Trustees.

Prior to his appointment, H.E. Al Marri held important positions in the government as a senior, top-ranking official. He was the Secretary General of the UAE Cabinet since 2017, during which he was instrumental in strengthening the interdependence between the federal and local governments. In this role, he also spearheaded many initiatives to get the pulse of the people and know their sentiments, as well as build the UAE’s long-lasting relations with international organizations such as the World Economic Forum.

H.E. Bin Touq formerly served as the head of Securities and Commodities Authority, and was also the former Director General of the Executive Office of H.H. Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum. He was part of the high-profile team that was behind the launch of ‘Area 2071,’ the nucleus of the future envisioned in the UAE Centennial Plan 2071. Furthermore, the UAE Minister of Economy, in his previous post, took part in the unveiling of the Hatta Economic Zone development project and the relaunching of the Mohammed Bin Rashid Center for Leadership Development.

In addition, he was the CEO of the Dubai Future Foundation, enabling him to play a vital role in the successful launch of Dubai 10X and other initiatives of national importance. The Dubai 10X initiative, in particular, aims to strengthen the emirate’s bid to become the city of the future.

H.E. Al Marri is a member of the Boards of Directors of different federal entities. His memberships allow him to actively support the development of priority sectors in the country such as the Golden Visa initiative, which seeks to attract talented individuals from across the world.

The UAE Minister of Economy holds a Bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering from the University of Sheffield in the UK. Also, he is a graduate of the UAE Government Leaders Program and Mohammed Bin Rashid Center for Leadership Development.

Minister of State for Foreign Trade, United Arab Emirates

H.E Dr. Thani bin Ahmed Al Zeyoudi was appointed the UAE Minister of State for Foreign Trade, following the new UAE Government structure in July 2020, and has been assigned a file to attract the best talents and competencies to serve the strategic direction of the UAE. H.E. also oversees the development of non-oil foreign trade sectors and the expansion of global partnerships, in addition to enhancing the investment climate in the country, in order to cement its position as a major business destination at the regional and global levels.

H.E. had held the position of Minister of Climate Change and Environment previously, during which he supervised the implementation of the UAE's strategies locally, advancing environment and climate actions. He also led the country’s efforts in limiting and adapting to the repercussions of climate change at the global level, while also focusing on the preservation of the UAE’s biodiversity through the development and implementation of a set of effective policies and measures.

Prior to assuming his ministerial position, H.E Al Zeyoudi served as the permanent representative of the UAE to the International Renewable Energy Agency (IRENA), and Director of the Department of Energy Affairs and Climate Change at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation.

H. E. began his career as a petroleum engineer at the Abu Dhabi Marine Area Operating Company (ADMA-OPCO) before moving to the Abu Dhabi Future Energy Company (Masdar), where he worked on the development of renewable energy technologies and solutions. Tom Verducci

MLB Analyst & Reporter, FOX Sports

Tom Verducci is an analyst and reporter for FOX Sports’ Major League Baseball coverage. Joining the network in 2012, Verducci has been a reporter for the MLB Postseason since 2016.

One of only a few national MLB analysts to have not played professionally, the four-time Emmy-Award winner has covered the sport for more than 30 years in a variety of roles ranging from beat writer to columnist, feature writer, author, reporter, studio analyst and game analyst.

One of the top journalists to ever cover the game, Verducci is a three-time winner of the National Sports Media Association’s National Sportswriter of the Year Award and was elected to the NSMA Hall of Fame in 2020.

Verducci took home the Sports Emmy Award in the Outstanding Sports Personality/Sports Reporter category in 2012 and 2018 as a field reporter for his regular and postseason baseball coverage. In 2013, he was awarded a second Sports Emmy Award for Outstanding Sports Personality — Studio Analyst, becoming the first non-former college or pro athlete to claim the honor and the first person to earn the award after previously winning Outstanding Sports Reporter.

Verducci was in the broadcast booth alongside analyst Harold Reynolds and play-by-play announcer Joe Buck for FOX Sports’ presentation of the All-Star Game and World Series in 2014 & 2015.

In addition to his role with MLB Network, Verducci served as a studio analyst for TBS’ coverage of the Division Series and American League Championship Series. He became a field reporter for TBS in October 2008 and joined MLB Network booth in 2009. He also currently serves as a senior baseball writer at Sports Illustrated, where he has twice been named a National Magazine Award finalist. Verducci contributes inside information and analysis for the magazine and SI.com. Before joining Sports Illustrated, Verducci spent 10 years as a baseball writer for Newsday, serving as its national baseball columnist from 1990 to 1993. With Joe Torre, Verducci co-authored “The Yankee Years,” a No. 1 New York Times bestseller released in 2009 that chronicled the New York Yankees’ dugout and organization. Born and raised in Glen Ridge, N.J., Verducci graduated from Penn State University in 1982 with a degree in journalism and was honored as the Most Outstanding Journalism Graduate in his class. David Feuerstein

David Feuerstein is a co-founder and partner of Feuerstein Kulick, a twenty-five person law firm in New York City, that is focused on cannabis law and regulations.  David also serves as the head of Feuerstein Kulick’s litigation department.

David is a seasoned litigator that leverages his significant courtroom experience to efficiently protect clients’ interests in complex commercial litigation.  David is one of a handful of attorneys nationwide that has litigated a cannabis case before a federal court, state court, arbitration panel and a government agency.

In 2013, David was named one of the New York Law Journal’s Rising Stars – a group of 50 lawyers in New York City whose hard work has significantly contributed to the law and their communities.

From 2003 to 2020, David served as an adjunct professor at the Benjamin N. Cardozo School of Law, where he taught legal writing and research. He is also a member of the Advisory Committee for the Heyman Center on Corporate Governance, which strives to raise public and academic awareness of pressing issues in corporate and securities law, and a member of Cardozo’s Real Estate Advisory Committee.

Harris is a Managing Director at Engine No. 1. He oversees private equity and venture capital investments at Engine No. 1 focusing on investments in Cleantech, Energy Transition, Agriculture, and Infrastructure. He has over 15 years of private equity and venture capital experience and was an early investor in sectors leading the U.S. clean energy transition.

Before joining Engine No. 1, Harris was the Chief Investment Officer of Pelican Advisors where he built several successful businesses across multiple industries. Prior to joining Pelican Advisors, he invested in the energy industry at Good Energies / Bregal Energy and prior to that at LS Power Equity Advisors. He began his career as an investment banker at Credit Suisse First Boston.

Harris received a BS with Honors in Policy Analysis and Management from Cornell University with minors in Economics and Government. He currently sits on several boards, including the non-profit organization Teach-it-Back, and is a mentor to early-stage entrepreneurs at the NASDAQ Entrepreneurial Center.      

Joe Torre

Special Assistant to the Commissioner, Major League Baseball

Joe Torre was inducted into the Baseball Hall of Fame in Cooperstown, NY on July 27, 2014 and the New York Yankees retired his Number 6 at a ceremony at Yankee Stadium the following month.

Joe is currently a consultant to Major League Baseball Commissioner Robert Manfred.  Prior to his current role, he served as the Chief Baseball Officer for Major League Baseball. In this capacity, he was responsible for overseeing several areas that included Major League Operations, On-Field Operations, On-Field Discipline and Umpiring. He served as the Office of the Commissioner’s primary liaison to the general managers and field managers of the 30 Major League Clubs regarding all baseball and on-field matters.

Torre is also Chairman of the Joe Torre Safe At Home Foundation, which he and his wife, Ali, launched in 2002. In 2010, Torre was appointed by President Barack Obama to serve on the National Advisory Committee on Violence Against Women.  He has also served as Co-Chair of the US Justice Department’s National Task Force on Children Exposed to Violence.

In the Fall of 2010, Torre concluded his third and final season as Manager of the Los Angeles Dodgers, who he led to the National League Championship Series in 2008 and 2009. Previously, he spent 12 seasons as Manager of the New York Yankees (1996-2007), guiding them to the Playoffs every year, including six World Series appearances and four World Championships (1996, 1998, 1999 and 2000).

Torre made his managerial debut with the New York Mets on May 31, 1977, becoming the first player-manager in the majors since 1959. He managed the Mets until 1981 and the Atlanta Braves from 1982-84. After spending nearly six seasons as a television broadcaster for the California Angels, he managed the St. Louis Cardinals from 1990-95.

Torre ranks fifth in all-time managerial wins, with 2,326. The Associated Press named him Manager of the Year in 1982 and 1998. In 1996 and 1998, the Baseball Writers Association of America named him American League Manager of the Year and, in 1996, The Sporting News named him Sportsman of the Year. He won ESPN’s ESPY Award for Best Manager/Coach of the Year in 1997, 1999, 2000 and 2001.

During his 17-year playing career (first/third baseman, catcher) with the Milwaukee/Atlanta Braves, St. Louis Cardinals and New York Mets, Torre compiled a lifetime .297 batting average, had 2,342 hits, 252 home runs and 1,185 RBI’s, and hit over .300 five times. He was a nine-time All-Star and the National League’s 1971 Most Valuable Player, batting .363 with 230 hits, 24 home runs and a league-leading 137 RBIs.

The Joe Torre Safe At Home Foundation’s mission is to educate to end the cycle of domestic violence and save lives. Since its inception, the Foundation has educated thousands of students, parents, teachers and school faculty about the devastating effects of domestic violence.

Currently reaching children in schools and community centers in metropolitan New York City and schools in Los Angeles and Cincinnati, Margaret’s Place, a tribute to Joe’s mother, provides middle and high school students with a “safe room,” in which to talk about violence-related issues to each other and to a professional counselor trained in domestic violence intervention and prevention

Torre is the co-author of three books: The Yankee Years (Doubleday 2009), Chasing the Dream: My Lifelong Journey to the World Series (Bantam 1997, 1998) and Joe Torre’s Ground Rules for Winners: 12 Keys to Managing Team Players, Tough Bosses, Setbacks and Success (Hyperion 1999).

Torre was born on July 18, 1940 in Brooklyn, NY.  He and Ali have four children, Andrea, Michael, Cristina and Lauren.

Congresswoman Mikie Sherrill

After graduating from the US Naval Academy in 1994, Congresswoman Sherrill spent almost 10 years on active duty in the Navy. She flew missions throughout Europe and the Middle East as a Sea King helicopter pilot, worked on the Battle Watch Floor in the European Theater during the Iraq invasion, and served as a Flag Aide to the Deputy Commander in Chief of the U.S. Atlantic Fleet. Sanjay Patel

Mr. Patel is Chairman International and Senior Partner of Private Equity of Apollo Management, with responsibility for helping to build and develop Apollo's international businesses based out of New York City.  He is a member of the firm's Management Committee and Investment Committees and serves as Chief Executive Officer of Apollo Strategic Growth Capital. He was formerly Head of Europe and Managing Partner of Apollo European Principal Finance based in London. He joined Apollo Management in 2010 as Head of International Private Equity. 

He was previously a partner at Goldman, Sachs & Co. and was co-head of European and Indian private equity for the Principal Investment Area (PIA).   He was a member of the Goldman Sachs Partnership Committee and a member of the Investment Committee of the Goldman Sachs Foundation.  Sanjay started his career at Goldman Sachs in 1983 and spent 17 years in PIA in New York and London. 

He was Co-President of Greenwich Street Capital from 1998-2003.  He currently serves on the board of directors of Tegra Apparel and Yewno, Inc.  He is a member of the Harvard Graduate School of Design Dean’s Leadership Council and the Stanford Graduate School of Business Advisory Council.  He also serves on the Investment Committee of the Eton College Foundation and is a member of the Eton Development Advisory Council. He is President of the board of the American Friends of The Royal Foundation of The Duke and Duchess of Cambridge.

Maureen O'Toole, CAIA

Maureen O’Toole is head of the Americas Investor Development Group for Actis.  She and her team work with investors in Actis funds to keep them fully appraised of the progress and performance of their investments. Importantly, they work with potential investors about the opportunities that exist in emerging market investing, and the preconceptions that often accompany them.

Maureen joined Actis from Morgan Stanley where she was a Managing Director and held a number of roles in the alternative investments division, ranging from client engagement, to sales team management and business management. She worked at K2 Advisors immediately prior to Morgan Stanley. Prior to that, Maureen was a Managing Director with Citigroup Alternative Investments, heading a global team of 35 investor development professionals who worked with clients across the full spectrum of alternative investments: hedge funds, private equity and private real estate funds.

Maureen started her career as a research analyst at Drexel Burnham Lambert, working with institutional clients on identifying their balance sheet risk and then constructing risk mitigating hedging strategies. Hedging strategies evolved to also suggest opportunistic trading ideas from time to time.

Maureen received her undergraduate degree in Speech Pathology and Audiology, with a second emphasis in Economics at California State University at Chico. She obtained her Masters in Finance at Northwestern University in Chicago.  Additionally, Maureen holds a Chartered Alternative Investment Analyst designation.
